To update your business name and other information on Google, you must first verify your business. When verifying your company, make sure the information is correct and only you can edit it.
Check Verification Status
Initial Verification
- Add or claim a Business Profile on Google. Find out how to apply for a profile.
- Once you have added or applied for your profile, it can be confirmed by phone, SMS, email or video.
- You may need to validate using multiple methods.
- Availability varies by industry, publicity, geography, support hours, volume, and more.
- Please select a verification type. Learn how to check using the method of your choice.
- Validation often needs to be checked. These reviews help maintain the integrity of all profiles. It may take up to 7 business days.
- Once authenticated, you will receive a notification.
- If your company cannot be verified the first time, the Verify button will reappear. In this case, try another verification method.
After Verification
- It may take several weeks for updated business information to appear on Google.
- Information can be updated and supplemented at any time. Learn how to edit your profile.
- You can connect with your customers through their profile. Read more about posts, reviews and news.
Find a profile
- Search for your business on Google.
- Search for a business name and city on Google Search or Maps.
- In the Google Maps app, tap your profile picture or initials in the top right corner, then tap Business His Profile.

Re-Verification After Information Changes
In order to maintain quality company information, Google may ask verified companies to re-verify. If you change information about your company, you may need to reconfirm. We may also ask you to update your company information or provide additional information about your company.
To re-verify, go to your verified Business Profile and follow the steps.
Standard verification method
Phone Call or SMS Text
IMPORTANT: To get your verification code, answer your work phone number directly or make sure you can receive an SMS text. An Auto Attendant system will not be capable of receiving verification codes.
- Go to company profile. Learn how to find your profile.
- Click Get Verified, then click your preferred option, Call or SMS.
- Answer the call or open a text containing the verification code.
- Please enter the code in your profile.
IMPORTANT: Make sure your email address is available on the confirmation screen.
- Go to the company profile. Learn how to find your profile.
- Click Get Verified, then click Email.
- Follow the instructions in the Email.
Video recording
IMPORTANT: Videos can be deleted at any time. If you cancel the upload of the video, neither the user nor Google will be able to access the video. Learn how to delete videos.
Step 1: Upload Video
Schedule your video. For a continuous recording, add:
- Your current location. Capture street names and signs, nearby shops, and local businesses to confirm your location on Google Maps.
- Business or equipment. Track activity to show your business is at this Google Maps location. This includes items such as products for sale, branded equipment, marketing materials and the tools used to serve customers.
- Proof of Leadership. Provide employee-only objects or areas to demonstrate your authority as an authorized member representing the company. This includes cash registers, computer workstations, kitchens, storage rooms, non-sensitive business documents, etc.Go to your Business Profile on your mobile device. Learn how to find your profile.
- Tip: If you begin the verification process on your computer, you can scan the QR code to continue on your mobile device.
- Tap Get verified, then tap Capture video.
- Tap Start recording. Follow the steps to record a video.
- Tap Stop recording, then tap Upload Video.
After uploading the video, it is then reviewed. The review may take up to 5 business days.
- You will be notified when you are authenticated.
- If the video format doesn’t work, you’ll see a “Get verified” button. You can try other verification options.
- Go to your Business Profile by performing a Google Search. Learn how to find your profile.
- Click the More menu in the upper right corner, click Advanced settings > Video uploads > Delete videos.
Live Video Call
- Make sure you’re within support hours for your region and language.
- Make sure your mobile device can participate in a live video call. Our support representatives will help you join the call.
- Make sure you are in your company. Make sure you can prove your location and ownership when making a video call. Example:
- Your current location: Displays the sign from outside. B. The name of the street, nearby shop, or shop surroundings.
- Business or Equipment: Records operations. This includes items such as inventory for sale, branded equipment, marketing materials and the tools we use to serve our customers.
- Proof of Control: Show access to an object or area only to employees. This includes cash registers, kitchens, storage rooms, non-sensitive business documents, etc. You can also use the key to open the facility.
Tip: If you’re standing in line, contact the Help Center. It usually takes 24 hours to reply. We may also ask you for more information.
Step 2: Start a text chat with support on any device.
- Go to Business profile. Learn how to find your profile.
- Click Get verified, click Video call, and click Next.
- Please select a language.
- Click Start call to start a text chat with a representative.
- When you’re ready, a representative will help you join the video call on her mobile device.
- Use your device’s camera to show your business location and ownership.
Postcard
While you wait for your postcard:
- Do not edit your business name, address, or category.
- Do not request a new code.
Each verification code is unique to your business and the location you provided. If you update your business address, only the code requested for your current address works. Verification codes expire after 30 days.
Most postcards arrive within 14 days. Due to COVID-19, you may experience delays.
- Go to your Business Profile. Learn how to find your profile.
- Click Get verified Postcard.
- Make sure the address is correct.
- Request the postcard.
Important:
- Keep your code secure.
- Google won’t call you to ask for a verification code.
- Don’t share your verification code with anyone. This includes third parties that help manage your business on Google.
- Your code is unique to your business. You should be the only one who uses it.
- Go to your Business Profile. Learn how to find your profile.
- In the “Code” field, enter the 5-digit verification code from your postcard.
- Click Submit.
- After you verify, you can add owners and managers for your profile. Learn how to add and remove profile owners and managers.
- After you add the owners and managers you want, you can transfer primary ownership of your profile to the third party. Learn how to transfer profile ownership.
Instant Verification Method
- Your profile may be verified immediately when you verify your site in Google Search Console. Learn how to add website properties in Search Console.
- Existing Search Console users: If you verify matching sites before adding or claiming a profile, you won’t see the Verified prompt. Edit your profile and get in touch with your customers instantly.
- Search Console users: To verify matching sites after adding or claiming a profile, click Get verified. Then you can edit your profile and get in touch with your customers right away.
- If an eligible company maintains 10 or more profiles for the same company location, the company may use bulk verification. Learn how to check 10 or more locations at once.
